Bamboo Cambodia Project (BCP) Cambodia is a mission-driven foundation empowering underserved communities in Cambodia to break the cycle of poverty. Through fundraising, we provide free English education, scholarships, healthcare, environment and long-term sustainable support. We also create opportunities for global travelers to engage responsibly and make a meaningful local impact.

BCP Cambodia was founded by a Cambodian man named Shon Sey, affectionately known as “Mr. Bamboo”—a nickname inspired by his surname, Sey, which means bamboo in English.
Born in Tropoung Run Village, Ompel Commune, Siem Reap Province, Cambodia, Sey grew up in a family of eight siblings. Among them, he was the only child given the opportunity to attend school and complete his education.
His educational journey was made possible through the generosity of others. A kind family from Canada sponsored his public schooling, and later, another family from Australia supported him in pursuing a university education.
Education transformed Sey’s life in profound ways. It opened doors to new opportunities, broadened his perspective, and gave him the tools to build a brighter future. Having experienced firsthand the life-changing impact of education, Sey carries a deep sense of gratitude and responsibility.
Inspired by his own journey, Sey developed a powerful dream: to give back. He is passionate about helping children and young people in his community gain access to education so they can complete their studies, develop valuable skills, and build stable, dignified livelihoods.
Through BCP Cambodia, Sey is turning that dream into reality. By creating opportunities, supporting education, and empowering communities, he is helping transform lives—one person at a time.
